Project Reveal: A Mudroom Designed to Welcome you Home

If you read Part One of this project, you saw how we transformed an oversized guest bedroom into a dedicated upstairs laundry room. That single change unlocked the opportunity to completely reimagine one of the hardest-working spaces in the home: the mudroom.

Before: One Room, Three Jobs

Originally, this room served as the mudroom, laundry room, and pantry all at once.

While it technically checked every box, it didn't truly do any of those jobs well. Laundry baskets competed with coats and shoes, pantry items were scattered throughout the space, and what should have been a welcoming entry into the home felt cluttered and chaotic.

Moving the laundry upstairs created the opportunity to give this room a more realistic purpose.

A Place for Everything

With the laundry relocated, we were able to design a mudroom that finally works as hard as this family does.

Custom built-in cubbies provide a dedicated landing spot for coats, backpacks, shoes, and everyday essentials. A warm wood bench top adds a durable seat that wears well with time.

Above each cubby, woven baskets create concealed storage for seasonal items and accessories, keeping the room organized without sacrificing the clean, tailored aesthetic.

We removed the closet-style pantry and incorporated a full-height pantry out of cabinetry for a clean, cohesive look. Hidden behind the pantry doors are roll-out shelves which make every inch easily accessible.

Designed for Everyday Living

One of our favorite parts of this renovation is how updating these spaces changed our clients' daily routine.

Instead of walking into a room filled with laundry and clutter, they're welcomed by an organized entry that feels calm, intentional, and effortless. It's proof that thoughtful design supports the people who live there.
