Oak & Lace is a full-service interior design studio based in Leesburg, Virginia. We specialize in custom homes and large-scale renovations, guiding our clients through every detail from initial concept through final installation.
With a talented design team, trusted trade partners, and a refined, organized process, we bring clarity to what can otherwise feel like an overwhelming experience. From architectural details and finish selections to custom cabinetry, furnishings, procurement, and construction coordination, every decision is considered as part of the whole.
The result is a home that feels collected, intentional, and distinctly yours—beautifully designed and thoughtfully executed from beginning to end.
Alicia Thomasson
FOUNDER & CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Alicia's interest in design traces back to childhood; by the time she graduated high school, she had designed multiple bedrooms, bathrooms, and the kitchen in her childhood home.
She has a creative soul and is equally passionate about business; starting her first business at the age of 19 from her college dorm room.
She oversees and leads every design project, while also focusing on strategic growth for the company. Alicia is known for her design eye, organization, and processes, but also her intuitive ability to listen to clients, ensuring that she captures not only the look they are hoping for, but also layering it with effortless functionality. When Alicia's not in the studio, she is wrangling her three sweet boys, playing with skincare & makeup, and running their five star Airbnb.
Kristee Buchanan
LEAD Designer
Kristee has been dreaming & designing spaces most of her life. From early childhood dollhouse designs and HGTV inspiration, her creativity and love for making things pretty with a purpose only grew as she did.
In 20 years as an interior designer, Kristee has seen numerous designs come to life through space planning, team collaboration, and construction in both corporate and residential spaces. While she enjoys all stages of design, she especially loves solving design challenges, space planning in SketchUp, creating mood boards to communicate design ideas, and seeing the vision come alive during the buildout.
Reflecting her love for nature and design, Kristee studied to earn the title of Leadership in Environmental & Energy Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP) from the U.S. Green Building Council. Kristee continues to nurture her growth in interior architecture & design, viewing all aspects of design as ever-evolving opportunities for development.
Kristee is a nature-loving, crunchy mom who finds inspiration in the colors of the sunrise and in golden hour light. She craves movement, romanticizes homemaking, and always embraces the magic of motherhood.
Brenna Hobbs
JUNIOR DESIGNER
Brenna has a passion for spaces that feel both beautiful and intentional. She holds an Associate of Applied Science in Interior Design. Her love for design began at a young age, when she had to see every bathroom to decide whether it was “pretty” or not. That curiosity quickly grew into a hands-on appreciation for the process of creating a space. She loved getting involved in remodeling projects at her childhood home and her grandmother’s home, whether she was grouting tile, using power tools, or simply finding a way to get involved and learn. She is drawn to interiors that balance beauty with function and believes the most successful spaces are timeless, thoughtful, and designed to be lived in. Outside of work, Brenna enjoys spending time in the gym, cooking, appreciating the small moments in life, and always dreaming up her next idea.
Marguerite Brunn
Procurement Manager
Marguerite has had her hand in the design world since as early as high school and throughout the years, working in various home decor stores, both small businesses and big corporations. Most recently, she was a Development Project Manager in the multi-family sector, where one of her favorite aspects of her job was overseeing the Interior Designers and Procurement Agencies to ensure the design was executed as planned. With her project management background, customer service experience and attention to detail, she now puts her expertise into each project at Oak & Lace. Marguerite is a wife and mom of two young boys who keep her on her toes from sun up to sun down, while also cheering on the Washington Capitals and Commanders.
Todd Thomasson
DIRECTOR OF CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION
Having grown up in the furniture industry, and with decades of experience running multiple contracting businesses of his own, Todd is pouring his knowledge into the design firm. When he's not going back and forth with his wife on the next steps for Oak & Lace and running his other businesses, he can be found flying airplanes and taking their boys to Chick fil A.
